Hi there Internet friends!
Firstly, thanks for stopping in to check out my blog. I guess you landed here because you wanted to know a little more about the person behind the blog posts and product reviews. Well… here goes.
My name is Jennifer (Jen for short), I’m 28 and live in the beautiful seaside town of Hervey Bay in QLD, Australia. I am a part of a beautiful family of three including my cheeky husband and even more cheeky polar bear of a golden retriever, Locky. My first career was a graphic designer, which I absolutely loved but unfortunately doesn’t pay the bills too well in such a small town. I now work and and am studying to be a GIS Officer… this pretty much means I make maps. (pretty boring, right?!) So, here I am trying to get out some of my creativity in blog writing… I hope you are enjoying so far.
I created this blog to primarily keep track of my weight loss journey. I want to track my exercise and eating which will hopefully help me stay on track and be more accountable. At present my weight yo-yo’s around the early 80kgs but my ultimate goal is to get down to the mid-60’s. I have always been a little overweight and unfortunately my genetics from both my lovely parents means I’m doomed to fight thunder thighs for a lifetime. Lately, however I have been inspired by a few awesome accounts on Instagram (follow me @rufusbabe) and want to get fit, trim and toned.
I am also a little obsessed with beauty products… my husband would say more than obsessed since he is allowed only 1 out of 4 drawers in the bathroom! 😉 I thought this might also be a good place for me to voice my opinions on these products since I always look for reviews before I buy anything as well. Please let me know if you like my reviews… I would love to hear from you.
So, this little blog is all about my journey in life I suppose. From weight loss to beauty products. I hope you will enjoy reading and I look forward to chatting with you in the comments. 🙂
Here is an extra little snippet on how I met my husband – I originally wrote it for my wedding website but it’s about to be taken offline so I though I could just paste it in here for anyone that’s interested. 🙂
Jen, after being foot-loose and fancy free on a round the world trip in 2007 returned back to Australia with a rather large credit card bill and no job prospects. After searching for a job in Hervey Bay with no luck she was offered a position in Sydney. So, off to the big city she went. In the mean time she thought it a good idea to try and make some new friends in this new city through Facebook. Jen discovered an application call ‘Hot or Not’ where each applicant would put in their name, interests and a photo to be reviewed by potential partners/friends. This is how Jen and Ben met – there is still an ongoing argument as to who clicked HOT on who – apparently Ben has proof… Jen highly doubts it! 🙂 After messaging and chatting on MSN the pair decided to meet on Jen’s second weekend in Sydney.
Ben & Jen’s first date, Saturday the 5th April 2008 started by Ben picking Jen up from her apartment in Sydney and Ben treating her to the best seafood chowder at Star City Casino. He then showed her the sights on the monorail.
Having such a good time Ben decided to show Jen a special place he knew of called La Perouse. Unfortunately he didn’t realise how much it would freak clueless Jen out as the travel to this place was quite remote and far away from the city lights. During the drive Jen was terrified thinking she had just had dinner with an axe murderer but that she was happy if she died now, she’d had a good life. On arriving she realised what a beautiful place this was and how beautiful the lights were. Phew, Jen was allowed to live another day! After chatting the hours away, Ben returned Jen home in the wee hours of the morning but without a goodnight kiss. This confused Jen a little as she thought they’d both had a good night but her suspicions were put to rest with a message from Ben when he arrived home around 4am.
Ben proceeded to take Jen out on many more dates and look after her by making sure she wasn’t buying shoes instead of food. Who wouldn’t starve for an awesome pair of heels!! 🙂 After many more dates, sleepovers and buying a house together Ben finally popped the question on the 5th of March 2011. Jen said yes and they are hoping to live happily ever after and can’t wait to share their special day with friends and family! We look forward to seeing you all on the 6th of April 2013.
