Michelle Bridges 12WBT: Day 1

Hey hey!

So, today was the first day of my new diet plan, Michelle Bridges 12WBT and it all went pretty well I think. πŸ™‚

Day 1 Calories Burnt: 12WBTI did the designated workout video Burning Bridges which pretty much killed me but still managed to pump out 700 odd calories which felt awesome! Some of the exercises that involved the floor, like burpees etc were hard though as I have a very sore back at the moment. Hopefully all this exercise will loosen it up again. I think it may also be stress related as I had a Uni maths exam in the afternoon.

Food wise was pretty good too. Bircher Muesli for breakfast which was pretty yum and some green grapes for a snack at about 10.30am. Then a ham and salad wrap for lunch which actually surprised me that it filled me up and got me through to about 5pm when I stole a few soy crisps from hubby. I had a pretty fried brain from the maths exam and was really craving bad food, but I stuck to my guns and had a little snack instead. πŸ™‚

12wbt beef stroganoffDinner was homemade beef stroganoff. I was surprised at how long it took to cook really! It think it was over an hour before it was ready! But it was pretty tasty and I definitely wasn’t left hungry!

So tired… I think my head hit the pillow and I was instantly asleep! Looking forward to tomorrow’s food and morning workout. πŸ™‚

Review: Gelicious Gel Nails & Little Prince George

I love doing my nails (and hardly ever have time) but always get super disappointed when I smudge or chip the polish like 5 minutes after I’ve just done them.

Enter… Gelicious!Β  Gelicious Gel Nail Colour

Gelicious is an Australian company who make a gel based nail polish system. They claim gel is healthier for your nails than regular polish and the best feature, the polish stays on for up to 2 weeks at a time! Hooray! So, my lovely mum bought me a travel lamp and 2 colours for my birthday in 2012… I tried it and I just couldn’t for the life of me get the polish to apply evenly. They would cure and be all blotchy and weird! 😦 So, the kit sat in my bathroom drawer for a good 6 months before I tried it again. This time with a different colour and hoorah…. it worked perfectly and I have been obsessed ever since! The colour applied evenly and it stayed put for a good week and a half.

Since then I have tried about 8 different colours from the Gelicious shop and they are a little hit and miss (this may be my dodgy application skills but the fact some polishes work well and others don’t sort of rings alarm bells for me). I have just put on one of my new colours – Little Prince George and this is how it came out… not the most even application but it looks ok from far away which is the main thing I suppose.

As I redo my nails every couple of weeks I will post photos of the new colour so you can see how it turned out for me. I have found that the example images of the colors on the Gelicious store seem a little off but that is just me personally.

I have contacted Gelicious about my nail colour issues and they were absolutely lovely about it. They replaced the offending colours but unfortunately it didn’t make much difference to the application. As I mentioned… it may be just me and/or my nails (extra oil or something).

My 12WBT Journey – Preseason Task – Excuses!


So, this is the other reason I started this blog. I’m completing the February 2014 round of Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation. Β I’m super excited but a little nervous at the same time as it’s my first time completing a round of 12WBT. I’ve heard of so many awesome transformations and can’t wait to try my hardest to be one of those transformations in 3 months time!

I haven’t had much luck in the past with diets and exercise. I’ve tried Celebrity Slim (fantastic – lost 8kg – but put it all on again), a prewedding diet that made me very sick, protein shakes, starving myself, lemon detox diet (fainted on that one)… I can’t even remember the others, they all sort of just meld into one major struggle with my weight!

Now, I’m not obese but I do have a few kilos to lose. I’m not even sure how many as I’m too scared to weigh myself – this is ultimately going to change before the start of 12WBT… I’m just working myself up to it and getting my head in the game first!

So here I am, and one of the pre-season tasks is to outline excuses you use to get out of eating healthy or exercising. I am really the queen of excuses but here goes…

Internal Excuses Solutions
I’m too tired A workout will make me feel better & more energised
I’m too busy You can always find 1 hour out of 24 to exercise each day
It’s too hard Remember to try your hardest and I don’t need to overdo it all the time
I’m not seeing results on the scale so what’s the point? Keep working hard – the scale might be recording all that awesome new muscle your creating from working out
External Excuses Within My Control Solutions
It’s too hot Who cares, you’re going to get hot and sweaty anyway
It’s too cold Not for long, you’ll be hot and sweaty in no time
It’s raining So what?! Do a workout inside today!
I don’t want to get out of bed… it’s comfy! Your rest day is Sunday, if you skip today you won’t get to sleep in then!
I deserve to sit on the couch & relax, I’ve had a hard day at work Do your workout first, sitting on the couch won’t make you look hot in skinny jeans or a nice dress & hubby will get angry for spending $200 for nothing
External Excuses Outside My Control Solutions
Can’t eat prescribed meal plan/exercise due to special event (wedding) Try to avoid unhealthy foods and eat the healthiest portion of the meal (veges & protein) – find time to exercise!
Going to mum and dad’s/friends place for dinner Tell them the special diet I’m on and/or take my own meal
How can that skinny chick eat ‘insert bad food here’ and still be skinny – life is so unfair – commence eating chocolate She’s a bitch and my family genes are drunk and should go home (screwed) but don’t worry I am being healthier than her and my body will eventually thank you
I’m sick so I can’t be bothered eating healthy/exercising Eating extra healthy when I’m sick will help get me better quicker – also try to exercise but listen to my body and don’t go as hard as normal

Oh, did I mention I have the worst genes ever! I take one bite of cake and the whole slice heads to my bum or thighs! Thanks mum and dad… really appreciate it! I feel soΒ sorry for my future daughters… I hope they get dad’s genes!

Alrighty, time to kick off the beauty reviews with this absolutely divine body scrub. I was originally introduced to this body scrub after receiving a sample of it in a monthly subscription beauty box called Bellabox. I loved it so much I bought the large 250mL size!

It’s called Sexy Sadie Body Scrub and it is made by a company called Glamourflage. I had never seen this product before receiving it in my Bellabox but was immediately interested by the fun packaging! As a curvy girl myself, I identify with other curvy girls and the pinup culture in general (even if I’m not confident enough to actually practice it) so I absolutely loved the vintage style of the bottle and Glamourflage’s branding overall.

Now, to the actual product. WOW, does it smell absolutely awesome or what!? With a mixture of walnut, coconut and aloe it smells just like a tropical island… perfect to transport you to a secluded paradise every time you use it! It is I think, hands down the yummiest smelling product I have come across… ever! The sandy texture of the scrub helps to slew all that extra dead skin away and transport your skin to perfectly buffed and polished perfection.

I use this product every time I go for a wax or right before every other shave. I find it also helps to allow my shaver to cut the hairs a bit shorter than normal resulting in longer time between shaves. (The less shaving required the better, right?!)

So far, this is the only product I’ve tried from Glamourflage but just looking at their website I want EVERY SINGLE PRODUCT! ha ha I definitely recommend the Sexy Sadie Body Scrub if you want smooth, sexy, polished skin from top to toe. Meanwhile, I’ll be saving my pocket money to buy another Glamourflage product ASAP! πŸ˜‰

Hello and Welcome!

Hi there, and thank you first off for checking out my blog. My aim with this blog is to showcase my experiences, products I love and most importantly my fitness journey. I have been so inspired by just a few health and fitness accounts I’ve come across on Instagram that has made me want to make the lifestyle change for good.

To help me start to make the change my lovely husband bought the Guy Leech multi-gym from Big W for me (he also did an excellent job of putting it together which took a good 5 hours!) I’ve used it once so far and it works really well considering the super cheap price. I’m aiming to do 20-30mins on it every afternoon after work to build some muscle and get my metabolism pumping.

Train Like a Beast Look Like a Beauty TeeI have also fallen in love with another site called Blogilates. The site is run by Cassey Ho, a Pilates instructor who is based in the USA. She produces a wide range of Pilates based workout videos as well as a monthly calendar you can print out and follow to keep your workouts on track. Cassey also does clean eating recipe videos and provides a few nutrition plans which covers all the clean eating stuff as well. To make a bit of cash on the side there is also an awesome shop on Blogilates which sells a range of bright and colourful workout gear… I’m totally buying the Train Like a Beast, Look Like a Beauty shirt when I get my next pay! πŸ™‚
